Ratan's day at school just got a little more exciting one August morning. There was a new English teacher, Sameer. Ratan has been the most loved teacher in the school for four of the five years he has worked here. The other English teacher did not speak good English at all. All the kids love Ratan. He is a master storyteller. His method of developing language comprehension through stories is a big hit among parents too. The other English teacher was mostly shunned by the rest of the teachers. She just resigned two weeks back.

This new teacher Sameer was replacing her. Sameer is friendly and all the teachers seem to like him readily. He met Ratan with a broad smile and started chatting comfortably at lunchtime. Sameer is well travelled. He has lived in two western countries and has taught English in three east Asian countries. He has many ideas for improving English language skills. He has moved to this small town so that his wife could take over her family business from her father.

Sameer started confidently. He rarely needed help. His hobby was writing short skits for children. He soon became very popular. He was always surrounded by kids during the recess and lunchtime. He had many ideas for improving students' reading and writing skills. The HM and other teachers also liked to talk to Sameer in the staff room. He became the new favorite teacher of the school. Sameer prepared a detailed plan for the primary classes to develop spoken English skills by including an English skit in the morning Assembly every day. The HM called Ratan and Sameer for a meeting and told Ratan to work with Sameer to assist him in making the Assembly skits happen.

How do you think Ratan feels about this new situation in the school and about these Assembly skits?
